London bombings
I have spent the evening watching BBC world news as the aftermath of the London bombings are being beamed across the globe.
I do not and will never understand what motivates terrorists to strike out against innocent people whom they have never met. Not only do they take away the lives of the victims, they also create a ripple effect which stretches out to family and friends.
I know the reasons why they do it; I just do not understand how they can do it.

in London...
probably one of the saddest days ever. I went to work for 8am so everything happened after that. People were coming into work saying 'oo delays', 'power surges'. not knowing that only down the road there had been a bomb. It wasn't until about 11am that we realised how bad it was. Everyone was scared.
Work was not understanding at all. they were more worried about their business than anything else. wanting everyone to stay. i don't think they understood that people have families in London, or that they care?!?!
After a few arguments with the bosses, they said '...you can go if you want but we would prefer you to stay, but you'll have to take a half days holiday'...NO, that was not a joke, they actually said that to us!
Lucky for us we had a friend heading home in the same direction, so we just thought f**k it, lets just go, otherwise how else were we going to get back, walk? there weren't any tubes or buses. As heading out the door, the receptionist of the building bumped into us and the managers, the receptionist basically said they were inconsiderate for not letting us go and said that she was evacuating the building anyway.
On a normal day, 20mins, that's all it takes to get home, yesterday, 3 hours. just driving along, people were walking home, literally from one end of london to the other. it took us about 1.5 hours just to get 10 mins away from work. mad i know.
my friend who is a teacher had kids waiting for their parents to pick them up after school. only to find out that some parents had walked about 4 hours to get to their kids.
i spoke to one 70 year old guy who had to walk 3 hours to get home. it was so harsh but what else could people do. we were so fortunate to get a lift.
as soon as i got home, i think i watched about 5 hours of news. i hadn't seen any coverage on the tv, just from the internet and radio.
now this morning, that was just eerie. so quiet. the bosses had called us last night to say come in, bet you all hate where i work now! anyway, i guess i should do some work as i'm here now!
thanks everyone for checking on me xxx
